Your best bet is to go out into 0.0 for missions, sounds crazy but i get 12k lp for most missions... I have both skillbooks at 4 as well so that makes a difference..

It is currently almost impossible to build up infrastructure without huge supply lines to empire being created. But even then, the only advantage I can see for the new space is its actual position on the map. I'd really love to know what they are...
